What is hypnotherapy & NLP?

Did you know that we are in an altered state of consciousness, in other words hypnosis much of the time naturally simply going about our day?

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy enables receptivity. We were all born with beautiful states and then learned conditions and rules. Habitual programmes were developed through emotions and repetition and surprisingly there is always a positive intent underlying behaviours that now may seem to come out of the blue. It is possible to work with the Subconscious in aligning the positive intent driving certain behaviours. Innate wellbeing, clarity and improved health can be influenced within. What you think, feel and do, even your sense of self all come from the subconscious. During a ‘trance’ state the rational, conscious logical mind that only accounts for 5% of brain activity is bypassed for communication directly with the subconscious mind. 95% of all brain functions happen within the subconscious.

Whenever we do something automatically without needing to consciously think about it we are in a light altered state; like tying shoe laces, driving a familiar route without noticing how we arrived at our destination, and simple tasks you don’t have to consciously think about. This way is beneficial in many respects so that we do not need to overthink literally all we do. On the other hand, if we repeatedly experience habitual patterns of low level moods, unhelpful behaviours or negative thoughts then it’s time for a reset to lead yourself out of ‘stuckness’ and into a more resourceful natural way of being and this is exactly where hypnotherapy is really valuable.

Hypnosis feels like a daydream state its the space between thoughts where we are open and less distracted by the noise of incessant busy thoughts. It’s familiar to us as we experience deeper hypnosis at night when we are experiencing the precipice of sleep and rapid eye movement begins, and just before we awaken. It is an extremely relaxing, content feeling.

A hypnotherapist induces the naturally occurring relaxing state of trance to create the change you want. We live in a world of thought, but we think we’re living in a world of form. We get distracted by our thinking about thought forms and tend to attract what we focus on most. It is possible to have a fresh way of thinking, the resources are within and can be reset with effortless ease. The mind is simply more receptive in hypnosis. As a therapeutic modality hypnotherapy is powerful in creating life-enhancing mental wellbeing and long-lasting authentic results aligned with you.

What is NLP?

Neuro Linguistic Programming is how you make sense of your world, NLP refers to three components creating our human experience: neurology, language, and programming.

Neuro: The way you filter and process your experience through your senses.
Linguistic: The way you interpret your experience.
Programming: The way you make sense of your experience to create your personal programme that impacts behaviour.

Most importantly it’s about how you make it what you want it to be.

The one thing we have absolute control over is our internal world, we interpret meanings to events in our life and what to do about them. The stories we tell ourselves, habitual thinking patterns we create influences the way we feel and behave. In NLP its more effective to work with the structure of experience and state and not so much the story. Subjective experience is made up of the pictures we create in our heads, the words we say to ourselves and cell memory within our physiology, the interpretations we give in life are thought based but feel real. Fortunately all you require to create the change you are looking for is already within, because our default setting is in being ok.

These methods reset and align more of the real you and your own wellbeing without the incessant noise of negative thoughts, images and emotional stuck states. The space between these thoughts is where truth and your desired outcomes emerge.
